Bolles student Yan Ning Chen ’31 was crowned IUM International Preteen 2026-27 at the IUM Pageant Finale in Orlando last July. This achievement places her among nine other age division titleholders around the world.

Launched in 2016, International United Miss (IUM) is a national and international scholarship pageant system for girls and women ages 5 and up, focused on recognizing confidence, community service, personal achievement and authenticity. Contestants are judged on a completely makeup-free interview, evening gown, high fashion runway, personal introduction and community service.

As part of IUM's 10th anniversary year, Chen will travel internationally to represent the organization and take part in sisterhood events with titleholders from other countries. She will continue an active schedule of community service, including volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Little Free Library and Wolfson Children's Hospital.

Chen’s platform, “Hair We Go,” raises awareness for trichotillomania while supporting those affected by OCD, trauma and other mental health challenges. In her IUM profile, she wrote: “Having overcome social anxiety and self-doubt, I am passionate about helping others find confidence, authenticity and the courage to share their own stories.”
