Bono ’92 to be Inducted into Florida Chapter of National Wrestling Hall of Fame

Bolles alumnus Chris Bono ’92 has been named among the Florida Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame’s Class of 2023. The induction will be held during the chapter’s Honors Weekend on August 25-26 at the Wyndham Disney Springs Resort in Orlando.

The NWHOF Chapters recognize coaches, officials and contributors with 20 or more years of dedication to the development of leadership and citizenship in youth through the sport of wrestling. Bono has served as head coach for the University of Wisconsin wrestling team since 2018, following successful head coaching stints at South Dakota State and UT-Chattanooga. He has coached a national champion, 18 All-Americans and 71 NCAA qualifiers along with a 144-86 dual match record over 14 seasons.

Bono began his coaching career as an assistant at Iowa State where he was a four-time NCAA qualifier and three-time All-American. He is a two-time United States National Champion, took first at the World Cup in both 2002 and 2003 and is a three-time World Team member. Bono was inducted into the Glen Brand Wrestling Hall of Fame of Iowa in 2018 and FHSAA Hall of Fame in 2004.
