The Bolles World Languages Department will put the spotlight on French studies with a musical theme during National French Week, November 4-10.

French classes will explore music from a different part of the French-speaking world each day and vote on their favorite pieces and performers. On the final day of French Week, which this year falls on Tuesday, November 10, the finalists from each region will advance to the championnat and the winning song will be named the chanson de l’annee, song of the year!

Musical areas of focus and their dates, in French, of course, include:

• jeudi 5 novembre : chansons de l’Afrique subsaharienne
• vendredi 6 novembre : chansons de l’Afrique du nord
• lundi 9 novembre : chansons de l’Amérique
• mardi 10 novembre : championnat – chanson de l’année !

Students may vote for their favorite song each day via the French Club Schoology page or during French language class.

To promote French culture at cinematic levels, French Week organizers encourage students to watch French language films online over the weekend. Students also will be playing trivia games during French class through the week.
