Bolles Students Moderating Library ‘Chat’ With Author

Bolles students Jakhye Wilkins ’22, Yasmeen Ibrahim ’22 and Taylor Richardson ’22 will be moderating an upcoming event with Frederick T. Joseph, author of “The Black Friend.”

Hosted by the Jacksonville Public Library, “Lit Chat with Frederick Joseph” will be held Wednesday, March 31 at 7 p.m.

The students will speak with Joseph about his book and writing process and will moderate a question and answer session. Joseph’s book is a “conversation starter, tool kit and invaluable window into the life of a former ‘token Black kid’ who now presents himself as the friend many readers need,” according to the library’s event site. Richardson helped get Joseph’s book available to all 21 library locations in Jacksonville, and added to the libraries of many other schools, including Bolles.

Registration is required for the event and must be completed two hours prior to the start time. A library card and PIN is required for registration. For a link to the event, click here:

Separately this month, Richardson, an acclaimed girls in STEM advocate, will appear on the “Barbie You Can Be Anything Series” on March 20 at 1 p.m.
