Bolles Students Engage with Andrew Ross Sorkin at UNF

Bolles upper school students in the Great Decisions program attended an interactive lecture January 12 with award-winning journalist and author Andrew Ross Sorkin at the University of North Florida’s Herbert Center. The event was hosted by the World Affairs Council of Jacksonville.

Sorkin, a columnist for The New York Times, co-anchor of CNBC’s Squawk Box and founder of DealBook, is widely regarded as one of the most influential financial journalists of his generation. He discussed the 1929 Wall Street crash, its lasting implications and parallels to today’s economic climate. The talk also touched on his latest book, “1929: The Inside Story of the Greatest Crash in Wall Street History.”

Author of “Too Big to Fail,” a bestselling account of the 2008 financial crisis, Sorkin began writing for The New York Times while still in high school and graduated from Cornell University. He has received the Gerald Loeb Award for Best Business Book, multiple awards for breaking news and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Live Interview. He was also named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum.
