Four members of the Bolles Speech and Debate Team competed September 5 at a Congressional Debate Tournament, sponsored by the St. Augustine Forensic League, at Gainesville High School.

Although Bolles was the smallest team present, the team’s impact was impressive. Team members took most of the top awards, and Bolles won the contest in fine fashion.

In the middle school division, Maelan Johnson ’32 earned second place as well as the Presiding Officer award. In the high school novice division, Shyla Patel ’30 captured first place honors, and in the high school varsity division, Aiden Pereira ’28 brought home second place and Adi Yadav ’28 took the first-place award, earning perfect “1” rankings from all his judges during the tournament.

“This looks promising for one of our newest category involvements in the world of speech and debate,” said Bolles Speech and Debate Coach Bob Hutchings. “Congress has some exciting potential for bolstering our already formidable speech and debate program.”

The entire Speech and Debate Team’s next tournament is September 26 at Keystone Heights. #BulldogProud
