The Bolles Spanish Congreso team competed in several competitions and won the first place team trophy at the Florida State Spanish Conference, held April 17-19. This is the fourth year in a row Bolles Spanish students won first place in Florida, competing in Division I and outscoring all other classifications in Florida (1A-7A). 

Bolles World Languages Department Chair and Spanish teacher Adriana Stam said students were selected for the team in November through a tryout process and were coached for the past few months by Bolles upper school Spanish teachers Jessica Boylan, Araceli Crotty, Carrie Ezzell, Abby Sander ’09 and herself.   

In addition, Bolles seniors Christina Dovellos ’25 and Carter Lowe ’25 both won college scholarships funded by the Florida State Spanish Conference for taking home top honors in the Essay Writing Contest.

Finally, Raaya Katugaha ’27 won third place in the instrumental talent competition for her performance of “Jarabe Tapatío” on the flute. She also had the opportunity to perform at the banquet for all participants, teachers and judges!
