Bolles scientists achieved high commendations at the 2024 State Science and Engineering Fair of Florida 2024 (SSEF), held April 2-4 in Lakeland, Florida.

Upper school science teachers Brad Bullington and Dr. Kathryn Halloran accompanied the following students to the competition: Christina Dovellos ’25, Simran Naval ’24, Sarah Park ’25, Krish Patel ’25 and Dylan Schwartz ’24.

These students received awards and placed in two separate categories of science: Park won second place in the Cellular/Molecular Biology & Biochemistry category; Schwartz earned third place in the Engineering category; Dovellos and Patel took fourth place in the Cellular/Molecular Biology & Biochemistry category; and Naval earned special recognition in the Cellular/Molecular Biology & Biochemistry category.

Park was also awarded an invitation to the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), moving from an alternate to finalist status. This marks the first time in the Northeast Florida region that a student has advanced to ISEF for three consecutive years.

Before SSEF, Park participated in the Florida Junior Academy of Science (FJAS) and won first place in the Medicine category. She was also selected as an American Junior Academy of Science (AJAS) delegate and invited to present her study at the National AJAS in February 2025. Park conducted the study through the Science Program for the Advancement of Research Knowledge (SPARK) at Mayo Clinic. #BulldogProud #BollesInnovates
