Bolles Science Department Hosts New STEM Expo

Re-engineering its approach to the annual science fair, leaders of the Bolles Science Department organized the First Annual Bolles School STEM Expo to showcase students’ science pursuits in multiple areas of academic study.

The expo was held December 12 in Cain Gymnasium. It was a more comprehensive alternative to the annual science fair, which historically only exhibited projects and posters of students working toward the regional science fair competition. Science students’ projects were on display this year, but the STEM expo also included projects from students involved in Biology Honors, Mayo Clinic SPARK program, Kinetic Sculpture, Robotics, coding, 3D printing and video production.

“In an effort to expose more of the Bolles community to the wonderful STEM research performed by our students, we reorganized the traditional science fair,” said Bolles science teacher Brad Bullington, Bolles Science Fair Coordinator. “The participants were excited to reveal the results of their research in a variety of topics.”
