Bolles Language Honor Societies Welcome New Members

The Bolles World Languages Department faculty held honor societies inductions in McGehee Auditorium on the Upper School San Jose Campus April 9. Society student presidents and their teachers initiated new students and celebrated their excellence in language studies.

Bolles Associate Head of School Andrew Forrester welcomed the attendees before turning over the floor to Bolles Department of World Languages Chair Adriana Stam for remarks. The following honor societies were represented as they welcomed inductees and/or gave presentations: Arabic, Chinese, French, Latin and Spanish.

Arabic language students Abby Bradley ’25, Kindle Hoey ’25, Charlotte Joseph ’26 and Eldad Zamir ’25 recited poignant poems by Nizar Qabbani through a beautiful presentation with translation.

Chinese language students Vichy Chen ’27, Mia Lee Chong ’28, Daniel Vu ’28 and Sriveda Galipalli ’28 presented and explained the Chinese folk song “Jasmine Flowers” through a colorful and informative presentation that included simultaneous piano playing by Vu and calligraphy by Chen.

French language students MJ Bianco ’26, Anna Burtscher ’25, Mia Leonard ’28, Pedro Martinezclark ’26 and Kira Merrell ’25 joyfully showcased a humorous excerpt from the play “La Cantatrice Chauve d’Ionesco.”

Latin students Aarav Gandhi ’26 and Keyaan Nazir ’26 confidently presented a Latin Recitation, and Spanish language student Carter Lowe ’25 passionately recited the poem “Balada de los dos abuelos” by Nicolás Guillén.
