Three Bolles upper school students took first place at the 2026 CodeforAwhile Data for Good AI Challenge, hosted by Florida Data Science for Social Good at the University of North Florida March 28-29.

Jake Kovacocy ’27, Gabriel Alvares de Azevedo ’27 and Tudor Vlad ’27 earned the top honor in the competition, which brought together students to apply data science and artificial intelligence to social good challenges.

The juniors were recognized for the development of the Jacksonville Health Equity website/app they created to identify life expectancy disparities across Duval County zip codes, using readily available census data, and show where resources are needed most in an interactive “heat map.”

Throughout their project, they leaned on Claude for front- and back-end development and hand-checked all the data to ensure accuracy and efficiency. The site also offers tailored resources for users through a personal risk assessment powered by ChatGPT.
