Several Bolles juniors have been nominated for and selected to participate in Boys and Girls State this summer.  A summer leadership and citizenship programs for high school students between their junior and senior years, Boys and Girls State programs began in 1937 and are sponsored by the American Legion. They are held in each of the U.S. states, excluding Hawaii.

Program participants elect mock municipal officials and representatives to the mock state legislature. The participants also elect state officials, such as governor, lieutenant governor, and other state-level officials that their real state has. The legislature meets to organize, elect leaders, and to pass bills, in a way that is similar to how their actual legislature operates.

This year’s delegates for Girls’ State are Alice Creed ’19, Gentian Fairman ’19 and Richa Goel ’19. This year’s Bolles delegates for Boys’ State are Gabe Bassin ’19, Luke Dunn ’19, Stone Henderson ’19 and Kenny Sogbesan ’19. Hayden Coddington ’19 is an alternate.
