The Bolles School hosted 16 upper school students from Colegio San Agustín in Madrid, Spain, from January 8-18 as part of the Bolles Spanish Exchange Program.
The visiting students were welcomed with a reception in Bolles Hall, where Bolles President and Head of School Tyler Hodges gave warm remarks and formally greeted the group and their teachers.
During their nearly two-week visit, Bolles International Programs Coordinator Kristin Hong said the Colegio San Agustín students fully immersed themselves in life as a Bolles student, staying with host families and taking classes with their new friends.
“They visited a wide variety of classes – everything from Video Production, Studies in Leadership and History of the Middle East to Psychology and Ceramics,” she said. “They also participated in cultural and language exchange with Spanish AP classes and were given a tour of the San Jose Campus by a Spanish IV Honors class.”
The Colegio San Agustín students took field trips to St. Augustine, First Coast News, WJCT and downtown Jacksonville as they learned about Florida's and Jacksonville's history, improved their English language skills and experienced American culture with their host students and families.
Bolles students will travel to Madrid over Spring Break to complete their leg of the exchange program.
