Bolles Breaks Ground on San Jose Campus Baseball Complex

The Bolles School community gathered December 10 for a groundbreaking ceremony for the new baseball complex now officially under construction on the Bolles Upper School San Jose Campus.

The complex will include both the Jerry and Bruce Chappell Fieldhouse and a new stadium, which will be designed to mirror the San Jose Campus’ architectural significance, with two towers, an outdoor terrace for viewing games, a press box and new dugouts among other features.

The Jerry and Bruce Chappell Fieldhouse will include a player locker room, coaches’ offices and a lobby that will showcase the rich history of the baseball program. Outdoor landscaping that bears a resemblance to the avid gardening style of Jerry Chappell will also be incorporated into the design.

Bruce Chappell attended the groundbreaking ceremony along with fellow philanthropists who are generously supporting the complex’s construction. Chappell gave remarks in addition to Bolles President and Head of School Tyler Hodges and Chief Advancement Officer Carol Nimitz, who shared their gratitude and expressed the impact this project is poised to make for Bolles Baseball. Members of the varsity baseball team also attended the ceremony to hear more about the exciting improvements for their program and show their appreciation.
