Students in Gloria Wood and Tiffany Gonzalez’s Kinetic Sculpture class installed an bee-utiful piece that has the department all abuzz. A group installation, the infinity mirror piece is a mesmerizing look at a bee hive, complete with lighting that draws the viewers perspective deep into the honeycomb. Students used 3-D printed hexagons and multiple Odyssey boards with a single switch to create the design. Bees were made with the studio’s 3D printers as well. Students worked on the project from the on-campus studio in class and with students at-home learning. The end results is a sight to bee-hold. Enjoy a video of the hive here.
