Throughout the month of February, Black History Month, students on the Bolles Middle School Bartram Campus have been working in their advisory groups to highlight Black leaders and history-makers with a creative campus-wide art installation. The project culminates this week with a Scavenger Hunt that challenges students to learn about all 35 of those profiled.
The installation is a collection of posters featuring a large photo of a Black leader – including famous Black artists, athletes, activists, authors and speakers. Each advisory group decorated the posters with facts about the subject and other eye-catching material. They focused on exhibiting each person’s impact on the world and how it relates to The Bolles Way: Pursuing excellence through courage, integrity and compassion.
While students enjoyed assembling and admiring the posters throughout the month, their work took on a heightened experience the last week in February during a campus Scavenger Hunt. Students were challenged to run around campus and collect facts on each profiled person. Everyone was engaged and learned important history in the process!
