Barefoot Baobab Inspires Lower School Students
baobab

Barefoot Baobab, an educational group founded by Sophia Neghesti-Johnson and Don Laurin Johnson promoting literacy through storytelling and music, made two outdoor visits to Bolles lower school campuses during the past month.

The storytellers made their first Bolles appearance April 26 during a visit to the Bolles Lower School Ponte Vedra Beach Campus. They were on the Bolles Lower School Whitehurst Campus May 19, sharing their distinctive love of reading through lively storytelling, songs and games. The group’s Book Beats “edu-tainment” presentation includes griots, or storytellers, taking students on an international journey of discovery. Using original rhymes and world folklore, the storytellers help students explore history, science and language arts.

Barefoot Baobab believes “A story has the power to take us anywhere. We can travel to other galaxies, across time and into pure imagination.”
