Archibald Inspires Bolles Dancers During Weekend Intensive

The Bolles Fine and Performing Arts Department was pleased to host professional choreographer Jennifer Archibald for a weekend master class with the Bolles Dance Company. During her two-day visit, Archibald choreographed a piece for the Bolles dancers that will be performed during the 2021 Spring Dance Concert upcoming.

Archibald is the founder and artistic director of the Arch Dance Company and program director of ArchCore40 Dance Intensives. A graduate of The Alvin Ailey School and the Maggie Flanigan Acting Conservatory, Archibald has choreographed for many top institutions and companies around the country including the Atlanta Ballet, the Cincinnati Ballet, Ballet Memphis, Tommy Hilfiger, NIKE and MAC Cosmetics. Her works have been performed in acclaimed venues including New York’s City Center, Lincoln Center and The Kennedy Center. In 2015, she was appointed as Guest Faculty Lecturer to develop the Hip Hop dance curriculum at Columbia/Barnard College. Jennifer is also a guest artist at several universities including Fordham/Ailey, Purchase College, Princeton University, Virginia Commonwealth University, University of South Florida, Goucher College, Columbia College Chicago and Bates College.

Bolles Director of Dance Angela Blackledge invites professional dancers and choreographers to campus several times each school year to give students added dance instruction and a more realistic perspective of dance at professional levels. Several years ago, she orchestrated a two-day, on-campus dance intensive with “Hamilton” choreographer, Derek Mitchell.
