AP Spanish Students Recreate Famous Works

Bolles AP Spanish teacher Adriana Stam challenged her students to bring well‑known Spanish masterpieces to life through a hands‑on creative project in February.

Students chose an artist they had studied in class, selecting from painters like Goya, Velazquez, Picasso, Dali and Kahlo. These artists represented Baroque, Romanticism, Surrealism, Cubism and Realism movements. Each student then recreated one of the artist’s paintings, placing themselves in the role of a human subject and paying close attention to lighting, color, props, wardrobe, makeup and any effects needed to match the original work.

To wrap up the assignment, students presented in Spanish to their classmates, sharing background on the artist and painting, describing their creative process and reflecting on what they might change in the future. To see a collection of their work, visit our online gallery. #BollesGlobal
