Acclaimed actor Sean Samuels held a master class for upper school acting students November 28 as part of the School’s guest artist program.
Star of Broadway’s “Tarzan” and “Spiderman-Turn Off the Dark,” Samuels has acted in more than a dozen shorts, television movies and television series including “Giants,” “The Goldbergs” and “Toxic Shark,” among others.
While on campus, Samuels led several improvisational exercises and taught a workshop about using relationship and specificity to deepen performance and specifically monologue work. Students had the opportunity to workshop monologues together and perform for feedback.
“It is invaluable for student performers to get the chance to work with different instructors, often the techniques are similar but everyone has their own way of doing it,” said Bolles Fine and Performing Arts Director Laura Rippel, also an upper school drama teacher. “I really enjoyed participating as well! I think the students also appreciated hearing firsthand from Sean about his path to Broadway as well as film and television.”
