The Florida Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP) named Bolles senior Matthew Chanan-Khan ’27 as Florida High School Student of the Year at the organization’s annual conference in Orlando on September 19.

Chanan-Khan was nominated by his upper school Spanish teacher, Adriana Stam, who also serves as the World Languages Department Chair. He is the current president of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (Spanish Honor Society) and has competed at the Florida State Spanish Conference (Congreso), earning perfect scores in Poetry Declamation and Impromptu speaking.

Chanan-Khan has also participated as a host student during Bolles’ Spanish Exchange Program and has scored in the top percentiles in his language abilities on the National Spanish Exams. He is now enrolled in the School’s most advanced Spanish course, AP Spanish Literature and Culture, and looks forward to continuing his studies of the language in college and beyond. #BulldogProud
