A Day Around the World for Whitehurst Bulldogs

Students on the Bolles Lower School Whitehurst Campus spent the morning of January 28 exploring cultures from around the world during the fifth annual Whitehurst Campus International Festival. The event highlighted more than 15 countries and geographic regions, giving Bulldogs a chance to learn, taste and celebrate global traditions.

Fourteen upper school students and five lower school teachers joined 11 Whitehurst Campus families in sharing and celebrating their heritage. From tasting Ecuadorian empanadas to dancing in traditional Moroccan attire, the Bulldogs connected with cultures through hands-on activities.

The day opened in McGehee Auditorium with an all-campus “Opening Ceremony” inspired by the upcoming Winter Olympics. A group of fifth graders led the program and built excitement for the cultural experiences ahead.

After the ceremony, students rotated through 20-minute sessions across campus. Presenters used classrooms to spotlight the history, geography, music, clothing and customs of their cultures. Many groups showed photos and videos, and several offered single-serving treats for students to enjoy.

Thanks to the Whitehurst Campus MLT Co-Leads, Jennifer Moore and Andrea Benitez, for planning this special event.  Bolles Director of Global Learning and Engagement Allison Chandler and International Student Advisor Jessica Boylan also played an important role in arranging the upper school students' participation in this year’s International Festival.
