163 Current, Former Bolles Students Named AP Scholars
The College Board Advanced Placement Program designated 163 current and former Bolles students as AP Scholars for the exceptional achievements they earned on college-level AP Program Exams. This group had an average score of 3.95 on their exams, administered in May 2023. The honors continue a long tradition of academic excellence at The Bolles School, which consistently produces high-performing student results on the annual tests.
The College Board's AP Program offers students the opportunity to take challenging college-level courses while still in high school, and to receive college credit, advanced placement, or both, for successful performance on the AP Exams. The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on students' performance on AP exams.
The designation of AP Scholars is granted to students who receive scores of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams. Of the 66 Bolles students who received the honor, 32 current students were named with a 3.57 average.
AP Scholars with Honor is a title granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. Bolles had a total of 31 students in the category this year, including 10 current students. This group had an overall average of 3.75.
AP Scholars with Distinction are students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. Sixty-six Bolles students were named AP Scholars with Distinction this year, including 16 current students, with the group averaging 4.26.
Two Bolles graduates also received AP Capstone Diplomas and another earned an AP Seminar and Research Certificate. AP results are cumulative and current students may complete another year of college-level work and possibly earn another AP Scholar Award next year.
