Word of the Day: mea culpa  n.  formal acknowledgement of personal fault or error.  The principal offered his mea culpa at the school board meeting, but not all the parents accepted it.

TODAY’S EVENTS

Attention Students: Many thanks to the 320 of you who have completed the Internet Safety Survey posted on Edline. 
We really need to have more of you complete the survey and have extended the deadline to today Tuesday, Jan 8. Please take a few minutes to complete the questionnaire for the Teen Angels group. Thanks and Welcome back.

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

Attention All Students:  Please check the exam schedule.  If you have two exams at the same time OR three exams on the same day, you must see your advisor or Mrs. Babcock to re-schedule one of the exams for a LATER time period.  NOW is the time to do the re-scheduling.  Please do not wait until exam week to check for possible conflicts.  Thank you.

Late Registration Deadline for the February 9 ACT Test is January 18.  Applications are available in the College Counseling Office or online at www.actstudent.org.  

Congreso Candidates and Alternates:  There will be a mandatory meeting on Wednesday, January 9 during Activities in Mrs. Adair’s room U-111 to discuss competition details.  The poetry selections and play roles will also be assigned at this time.  Please be prompt!   Any conflicts please see your Spanish teacher.

The Young Republicans Club will be meeting on Thursday, Jan 10 during Activities in Mrs. Schaefer’s room B-231. All are welcome!

Interested in participating in a cooking class?  Come to an informational meeting, Friday, Jan 11 during Activities in Ms. Lunsford’s room.  Contact Maggie Howell with any question.

Mandatory meeting for the Japanese Club will be on Wednesday, Jan 9 during Activities in Sensei Braren’s room U- 114.

CLUB MEETINGS/UPCOMING EVENTS

Junior and Sophomores: For any student absent during Convocations to return PSAT score reports—please pick up from your advisor.

Attention Tennis Players – There will be a mandatory pre-season meeting for anyone interested in trying out for either the JV or Varsity Tennis Teams for the upcoming season.  The meeting will be on Thursday, January 10, at 4:00 p.m. on the tennis courts.

Drama Showcase!  Come out this Wednesday, Jan 9 and Thursday, Jan 10 at 7:30 p.m. to McGehee Theatre where this semester’s theatre classes will be performing!  On Wednesday night, the students in Intro Acting will perform scenes from “Barefoot in the Park” and “Steel Magnolias.”   On Thursday, students in Advanced Acting and Directing will perform scenes that they have created as well as samplings of Greek and Modern theatre.  It promises to be entertaining!  Come out and support your friends in the Fall Drama Showcases!

Attention Mu Alpha Theta members participating in the Saturday, Jan 12 competition: There will be a meeting on Wednesday, Jan 9 during Activities in Rm B-224.

Leigh Meadows will meet in the cafeteria on Wednesday, Jan 9 from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.  Please join us for an activity and snack with the visiting children.

Sophomore Leadership will meet on Wednesday, Jan 9 during Activities in the Alumni Conference Room.

Mentors will meet on Wednesday, Jan 9 during 4th and 5th periods in the Varn Board Room.  Please bring your lunch.

Optional Lacrosse workouts begin January 14 at 11:30 a. m. on the track.  Bring sneakers as well as full gear.  Tryouts begin Monday, January 21 at 9 a.m. on the track.  See Coach Mulvey in S-201 with any questions.

Theater Jacksonville in San Marco presents “Dearly Departed”, an outrageous funeral comedy featuring the talents of five Bolles faculty:  starring Mr. Fritton and Ms. Meierdeirks, music by Ms. Clifton, and directed by Mr. Dickson,  a gallery art show of Mr. Jim Smith’s exhibit, “Petits Objets and Big Secrets”.  Performances run weekends January 11 through 26.   For info and tickets, call 396-4425 or order online at www.theatrejax.com .

Club Presidents: please be reminded that any changes to your club semester reports are due to Ms. Moyer B-218 by this Friday, Jan 11.  If the corrections are not made, your charter will be canceled for second semester.
