CONVOCATION/CLASS MEETINGS

Sophomore Leadership Council will meet on Friday, Feb 1 in the Alumni Boardroom during Activities.

Second Quarter Honors Convocation for grades 9-12 on Monday, Feb 11 during Activities in the Davis Gym.

NHS Tapping on Thursday, Feb 14 for grades 11-12 during Activities in McGehee.

TODAY’S EVENTS

St. Jude is meeting Thursday, Jan 31 during Activities in Mrs. Clubb’s room. If you cannot attend, please notify Zara Day or Virginia Hickox as soon as possible.

National Honor Society: There will be a mandatory meeting for all current members during Activities Period in Mr. O’Riordan’s room B-123 on Thursday, January 31.  This is an important planning meeting for the upcoming NHS tapping and induction ceremonies.
Junior Day will be Thursday, Jan 31 during periods 6-8: Hilf/Marks/Riedeburg Advisees in McGehee.

The Purple Group will be going over to the 5th grade on Thursday, Jan 31 at 12:30 p.m.  Please meet in front of the Fine Arts Building.

Anyone interested in getting involved in the planning of Homecoming 2008, (ideas for a theme will be discussed) please come to a meeting in the Varn Boardroom on Thursday, Jan 31 during Activities.  If you have questions, or cannot make it but still want to be involved, please contact Mandy Fatemi or Savannah Wood.

Girls’ Volleyball: All girls interested in playing volleyball next year, please attend a very important meeting on Thursday, January 31 in Davis Gym during Activities.

Quiz Team Practice Change: Conflicts require our changing our practice this week from Friday, Feb 1 to Thursday, Jan 31.

Congreso Candidates and Alternates:  There will be very brief meeting Thursday, Jan. 31, during Activities in Srta. Machado’s room U-207.  Please bring ALL signed forms and, for those of you in the play, bring your scripts.  If you have any conflicts, please see your Spanish teacher or Srta. M. beforehand!  Gracias!

Wired Safety members, we will meet Thursday, Jan 31 during Activities Period in Mrs. Curran’s room S-215 to put the final changes on our Summit presentation.  If you need to get a different shirt, please bring that with you to the meeting.

The Debate Club has a mandatory meeting today Thursday, Jan 31 during Activities in S-213, Mr. Dickson’s room.  Bring calendars and all of your SAT debate materials.

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

Congratulations to Becky Le, Kyle McVeigh and Lauren Pearce for representing the Bolles School very admirably as they presented their Internet Safety ideas to parents and students of the Canterbury School in St. Petersburg.  They, along with Casey Stamps, Andy O’Hare, Elizabeth Carr and Cozy Ruan will be traveling to Washington DC next week to share the results of the Bolles Internet Safety survey that you completed with internet company executives and US Legislators. Thanks for helping them reach that goal.

Contrary to some of the signs around campus, the Winter Dance is semiformal, not formal.  Thank you.

The Find-A-Cure will have a Chick-fil-A sale on Friday, Feb 1 during Activities Period.  All proceeds benefit the ALS Association, so please do not forget your money.

The Chinese Club will sponsor Chinese Week during the week of Feb 4-8. All the activities will take place on the Bolles campus and will center on the Chinese Culture as well as the Chinese New Year.

CLUB MEETINGS/UPCOMING EVENTS

Student Council meetings have started for second semester.  If you are a class representative or class president, you should be attending these meetings.  They are every Monday in the Varn Boardroom at 6:30 p.m.

Interested in attending a cooking class that will benefit the Sulzbacher Center?  Then please sign up for a class on Ms. Moyer’s bulletin board B-218.  If you have any questions please see Maggie Howell.

Congratulations to the JV Quiz Team for winning three out of four matches in the competition on Saturday. The team advances to the next round on Saturday, February 9.

Quiz Team Emergency Recruitment Drive:  Because three team members have conflicts, we are desperately seeking participants for the competition on Saturday, February 9, at Wolfson High School from 8:00 until noon.  If you are interested, please see Mrs. Tyler, Kyle Morgan or Matthew Silverstein.

Any boys interested in joining the Weightlifting Team, please meet in the weight room on the San Jose Campus at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, February 4.

To all the students of Mr. Smith’s first semester art classes: due to lack of space you must come by and pick up any art or tools that you left. If not picked up by Friday, Feb 1, they will be recycled or tossed out.
