Word of the Day: lackadaisical \lack-uh-DAY-zih-kuhl\, adjective: Lacking spirit or liveliness; showing lack of interest; languid; listless. The lackadaisical crowd did not show any team spirit and sat with their arms folded after each successful play.

Mandatory Sophomore Leadership Convocation will be in McGehee on Thursday, Sept 9 during Activities.
TODAYS EVENTS
All senior girls interested in joining Senior Women’s Club, there will be meeting in the Varn Boardroom today Thursday, Sept 2 during Activities.
There will be a Chinese Club meeting today Thursday, Sept 2 in U-211 during Activities. If you are interested in running for club officer or becoming a member, please come to the meeting.
Worldquest Competions: Any students interested in trying out for the Bolles WorldQuest teams please attend a meeting in Mr. O’Riordan’s rm. B-123 during Activities Period today Thursday, Sept. 2. World Quest is a flagship program of the World Affairs Councils of America. The game is an annual event across the country. It is a team game testing competitors’ knowledge of topics such as international affairs, geography, history and culture. The World Affairs Councils of America began a national competition in Washington, D.C. in March 2003. There are currently 43 local competitions around the country. The winners of these local competitions are invited to compete in the national competition held in D.C. each spring.
Girls Soccer – All girls interested in playing soccer this year, there will be a brief meeting in the Colmery Skills Center today Thursday, Sept 2 during Activities Period.

We will have a meeting for our Girls Softball Team on Tuesday, September 7. It is important that you be there to discuss our game and tournament schedule. We will be discussing important information about traveling to Tennessee for the National Level Tournament and to the Kissimmee Klassic in Orlando during Spring Break. We will meet in the Davis Gym during Activities. See you there!

Wendy’s High School Heisman Award: This award honors both male and female high school seniors who excel in academics, athletics, and student leadership. Eligibility is limited to men and women entering their senior year of high school, have at least a “B” average, and participate in at least one school-sponsored sport. The first 41,000 applicants will receive a FREE Wendy’s Gift Card. Information and the application are available online at www.wendysheisman.com. Deadline is October 2, 2010.
Driver Ed students for first semester will begin the classroom segment of their course on Tuesday, Sept 7. Please report to the Driver Ed classroom, second floor of the stadium office area, SB- 202. You will resume your study hall when the actual driving begins, with students rotating from driving teams to study hall.
Drop/Add for yearlong classes is two weeks in length. The last day for Drop/Add without a petition will be Tuesday, Sept 7. All paperwork must be completed and turned in to the Registrar’s Office (in the Academic Office) by those dates. Thank you.

The Sophomore Leadership Council offers a great opportunity for a small group of sophomores to enhance their leadership skills and benefit their community. Applications are available outside of Mrs. Cussen’s office on the second floor of the Bent Center or Ms. Vagenas’ office in the College Counseling Office on the second floor of Shultz Hall. Applications are due Friday, Sept 10.
All new and returning international students: You must see Mrs. Marks to register with Homeland Security before September 10.
Cross-country: If you are interested in joining the boys or girls cross country team, practice will be on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoon. We meet at the track at 4:05 p.m. All are welcome to come out and try the sport of cross-country. If you need further information about the program, please see Coach Ryan on the second floor of Bolles Hall in rm. 250.
