CONVOCATION/CLASS MEETINGS
Senior Convocation will be on Wednesday, Mar 10 during Activities in McGehee.
Junior Seminar will be Thursday, Mar 11, during Activities, in McGehee. This seminar will cover the topic “How to write a dynamite college essay.” During this session, you will learn the necessary steps to write a compelling essay.
TODAY’S EVENTS
Project Holiday workdays for the St. Patrick’s Day project will be Wednesday, Mar 10 during Activities in rm B-136. Cookies will be provided!
If you have any canned or non-perishable goods in your pantry please bring them in for the Bulldog Ton. We have been helping the Second Harvest Food Bank for numerous years and would like to have another successful event. We will be collecting from the Wednesday, Mar 10 until Friday, Mar 19. Please see Rebecca or Elizabeth Surratt with questions or if you would like to help.
There will be a Shamrock Sale benefiting the Muscular Dystrophy Association Wednesday, Mar 10 through Wednesday, Mar 17. All shamrocks are being sold for $1 and gold shamrocks for $5 at the benches during Activities, both lunches. All shamrocks come with a free cookie!
The Zonta Club of Jacksonville - Young Women in Public Affairs Award This scholarship, for $1,500, will be awarded to a local young woman in recognition of her commitment to volunteerism and leadership achievements. All pre-college female students ages 16-20 are eligible to apply. This award encourages young women to pursue careers in government, public policy, and community organizations. Application packages may be found on the website: http://www.zontajacksonville.com. Applications must be received no later than today March 10, 2010.
Florida Striders Track Club – Scholarship Three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded this year to graduating high school seniors who live in Northeast Florida. Eligibility requirements include: be a resident of NE Florida for the past two years; be a graduating high school senior; and be a runner or active in track and field events. NCAA regulations may prohibit you from accepting this scholarship if you attend college/university on an athletic scholarship. Applications are available online at www.floridastriders.com or the College Counseling Office. Deadline is today March 10, 2010.

Seniors: If you are qualified to apply for Bright Futures, you must complete the on-line application by Friday, Mar 12. If you are a Florida resident and have at least a 3.0 GPA and 970 SAT or 20 ACT score you must complete the application. See your college counselor if you have any questions about how to apply.
Congratulations to the Bolles Brain Brawl team for taking second place in the Duval Brain Brawl Competition on Saturday, Mar 6. Sixteen teams competed with Stanton Prep taking first place. The 2010 trophy is on display in the Swisher Library. Participating members on Saturday were Kyle Morgan, Kal Gezahegan, Sophia Array and Daniel Leichus, other team members are CJ Brown, Matt Silverstein, Katherine Pogrebniak and Will Knox. Our coaches are Mrs. Lange and Mrs. Tyler.

Pasta for Pennies Drive: Each 1st period class should now have a box in their rooms for the Pasta for Pennies Drive. Each class is competing against each other to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. You can put any coins, bills, or checks in the boxes. The 1st period class that raises the most money will receive free lunch from Olive Garden. If you have any questions or if you need another box, please see Mr. Lyon in the SL-103.
If you missed getting a camo Haiti Relief T-shirt Mrs. Moyer-Shad has a few extra. They are a bargain at $10 and all proceeds go to Haiti. Stop by her office BC–208 if you would like one.
The senior class is raffling off a senior parking spot on Wednesday, Mar.10 during Activities until Wednesday, Mar 18 at lunch. They are $3 for one or $5 for two. Make your fourth quarter better!
If you are a senior interested in serving on the Student Council, please see Morgan O’Hare or Mrs. Moyer-Shad. A spot has recently opened up. The meetings are every Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. Please provide a few sentences on why you would like to be considered.
Juniors – Remember that your completed Junior Questionnaire is due to your College Counselor next Wednesday, Mar 17.
The Bulldog Track and Field Classic will be held Friday, Mar 12 at Bolles and will have up to thirty schools and over 1000 athletes’ participating in what is one of the biggest and best track meets in Florida. All students, faculty, and staff, are welcome to come out and give your support to the Bolles athletes. Field events and 4 x 800 relay starts at 2 p.m., open races begin at 2:30 p.m., and invitational races start at 5:00 p.m.

Attention Seniors! Grad bash tickets are now on sale. The LAST day to buy them will be Wednesday, Mar 17. Tickets are $90 and can be purchased with cash or check in the campus store. For questions, please see Mrs. Morris or Mrs. Moyer-Shad.

Jacksonville Bulldog Alumni Scholarships, Inc. - Vince Dooley Scholarship This award is a one-year, renewable scholarship for $3,000 to help defer educational costs for one year’s matriculation at UGA. Criteria include: be a legal resident of Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, or St. Johns Counties, FL; provide a completed application packet by the deadline; be accepted for admission to UGA as a full-time, degree-seeking student; and attend UGA full-time as an entering freshman. Application packets are available in the College Counseling Office. DEADLINE IS MARCH 31, 2010.
