College Counseling 301, a program designed for parents of juniors, will be held on Thursday, November 1, from 7-8:45 p.m. in McGehee Auditorium on the San Jose Campus. The third installment in a four-part series of annual programs introducing parents to the college search and application process, College Counseling 301 will offer a different format from that of both College Counseling 101 and 201.
For College Counseling 301, seasoned admissions professionals are invited to Bolles so that they can share with parents their experiences and discuss key elements of the application and admission process. This year's panel will include:
Dr. Zina Evans, Assistant Provost and Director of Admissions, University of Florida
Steve Farmer, Assistant Provost and Director of Undergraduate Admissions, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill
Al Newell, Dean of Enrollment, Washington and Jefferson College
Steve Pultz, Director of Undergraduate Admissions, University of San Diego
These four professionals possess a wealth of experience in the field, and the program presents a wonderful opportunity to hear from and ask questions of the people who review student applications. They can answer all the questions parents commonly have—including the role of Honors vs. Regular courses, the uses of the SAT and ACT in admissions, and do's and don'ts of the application process.
