Prior to Bolles, Candelino served as an assistant coach with the University of North Florida men’s basketball team from 2006-09. In the 2009-10 basketball season, Candelino served as an assistant with the Bishop Kenny High School basketball team.

A native of Elizabeth, New Jersey, Candelino is an accomplished athlete in both basketball and baseball.  He was the 88th pick in the fourth round of the 1985 Major League Baseball amateur draft by the Montreal Expos, playing center field for two seasons in the Expos’ farm system and one season with the New York Mets’ farm system.  Following his baseball career, he signed a basketball scholarship with Marquette University, where he started as a freshman guard and led the team to a National Invitational Tournament appearance.  Candelino served as a team captain as a sophomore.  Following a transfer to St. Peters College in his home state, his team won a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title and NCAA Tournament bid for the first time in the school’s history.  Candelino graduated with a degree in criminology/sociology from St. Peters in 1991.

He also led his high school teams to state championships in both sports.  As a sophomore outfielder, he led St. Mary’s High School to a state title in 1983.  As a senior in 1985, he led Elizabeth High School to a basketball state title, earning All-County and All-State honors while scoring 1,000 points in his high school career.  He then led the Elizabeth baseball team to a state final appearance, earning All-County, All-State, and All-American honors in that sport.  Candelino was elected to the Elizabeth Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005 and the Union County (NJ) Baseball Hall of Fame in 2009.

Candelino is the managing partner of River City Brewing Company in Jacksonville.  He and his wife, Jennifer, have three children: Olivia (8), Ross (6), and Jillian (5).
