Storm Davis
Varsity Head Coach
Storm Davis moved into the role of baseball head coach at Bolles in August 2008 after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant on the Bolles baseball staff. Davis served a prior stint as head baseball coach at Bolles from 1997-2001, after serving as an assistant baseball coach at the School from 1995-96 and an assistant football coach. He has also served as head baseball coach and an assistant football coach at Trinity Christian and served as an assistant football and baseball coach at Bartram Trail High School.
Davis guided the 2009 Bolles baseball team to the program's fifth state title, along with region and district titles. The 2009 squad also ranked among the top teams in the nation, as high as 12th on RivalsHigh.com.
Davis' baseball resume includes 13 years in the major leagues as a pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles (1982-86 and 1992), San Diego Padres (1987), Oakland Athletics (1987-89 and 1993), Kansas City Royals (1990-91), and Detroit Tigers (1993-94).
He was a member of two World Series Championship teams, in 1983 with the Orioles and 1989 with the Athletics. He also played in the 1988 World Series as a member of the Athletics.
A Jacksonville native, Davis is a graduate of University Christian School. He and his wife, Angie, have five children: daughters Erin and Stephanie and sons Zach, Caleb, and Justin.
Mike Boswell
Varsity Assistant Coach
Mike Boswell joined the Bolles baseball staff in 2002 as an assistant coach and played a key role in the Bulldogs’ state championship that season. He became head coach in 2004, leading the team to district titles that season and in 2005 and to the regional finals in 2005. In 2006, the Bulldogs were district runner-up and regional quarterfinalists. In 2007, Boswell guided the Bulldogs to the program’s 16th State Final Four appearance, as well as district and regional titles. Boswell led Bolles to another district title in 2008 and into the regional semifinals. Boswell stepped down as head coach in August 2008 to further dedicate his attention to his critical role as the School’s Director of Boys’ Residential Life.
Prior to Bolles, Boswell served as head coach of Englewood High School. He earned Florida Athletic Coaches Association Coach of the Year honors in 1999 after guiding the Rams to the Class 3A state championship.
Boswell is a graduate of the University of North Florida and was an infielder in the Chicago Cubs organization. His wife, Laura, is a science instructor and advisor on the Middle School Bartram Campus. They have three children at Bolles: Bo ’11, Cody ’14, and Lauren ’19.
Matt Denmark
Varsity Assitant Coach
Matt Denmark joined the Bolles staff in 1998, currently serving as an assistant coach for the varsity baseball squad and as the Middle School Bartram Campus athletic director.
Prior to Bolles, Denmark was a head coach at Episcopal High School and Providence School in Jacksonville. A graduate of the University of North Florida, he was a letterman on the Ospreys’ baseball squad. Denmark’s wife, Allison, serves as director of internal testing, a tenth grade advisor, and assistant volleyball coach on the Upper School San Jose Campus. They have two children at Bolles: Caleb ’10 and Abby ’12.
Chris Skinner ’80
Varsity Assistant Coach
Chris Skinner is a 1980 graduate of Bolles, where he was a member of two state runner-up baseball squads. Skinner returned to assist the baseball squad in 2007 after serving as an assistant coach from 1999-2005.
Skinner graduated from Vanderbilt University, playing on the Commodores’ baseball squad. He has three daughters: Bolles graduate Peyton ’08 and current students Ellie ’11, and Virginia ’13.
Taylor Cobb ’01
Varsity Assistant Coach
Taylor Cobb, a 2001 graduate of Bolles, returned to coach at his alma mater in 2007. Cobb serves as pitching coach with the varsity squad. He recently joined the St. Johns County Fire Department after serving on the Bolles faculty as a permanent substitute teacher for the previous two years.
During his Bolles career, Cobb was named the 2001 Times-Union Player-of-the-Year and helped the Bulldogs to two district titles. He was also a member of the varsity basketball squad at Bolles.
Cobb graduated from the University of Central Florida, where he played on the Knights’ baseball squad. In 2005, he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays organization in the Major League Baseball draft.
His wife, Kacie, joined the Bolles softball staff in 2009.
Anthony Candolino
Varsity Assistant CoachRicky Barnes
Junior Varsity Head Coach
Ricky Barnes joined the Bolles upper school baseball staff in 2008 as the junior varsity head coach after being a part of the middle school coaching staff for the previous four years. Barnes has coached both baseball and football at the middle school. He is a graduate of the University of North Florida. His brother Matt is a senior on the Bolles varsity baseball team.
Doug Skinner
Junior Varsity Assistant Coach
Doug Skinner joined the Bolles baseball coaching staff in 2007, assisting with the junior varsity. Skinner's previous coaching experience includes seven years at Lakeside Junior High School as an assistant, and numerous local travel teams. He was a member of the coaching staff of two state championship travel teams.
Skinner attended high school in St. Louis, Missouri, playing two years as a catcher on his school's varsity squad. He also played four years on a local American Legion team.
Skinner and his wife, Roxanne, have two sons: Matt, a member of the Bolles class of 2008, and Chris.
Chris Bland
Assistant CoachChris Bland joined the Bolles baseball staff in 2010, assisting both the varsity and junior varsity teams with strength and conditioning. Bland first joined the Bolles staff in 2008 with the football program, where he continues to work with receivers and overall strength and conditioning. Bland also serves as a strength and conditioning coach with Titus Sports Academy and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Bland is a member of the USA Weightlifting Association and National Strength & Conditioning Association.
Bland is currently pursuing a degree in exercise science at Jacksonville University. A member of the Dolphins football team in 2006 and 2007, Bland twice earned All-Pioneer Football League Academic Honors. Prior to JU, Bland started as a freshman and sophomore at wide receiver for the College of the Siskiyous in northern California. He was also a member of the track and field program, was named a scholar-athlete both years, and named to the Dean's List as a freshman.
A native of Canada, Bland attended Windsor Secondary School in North Vancouver, British Columbia. He earned several honors as a wide receiver and kick returner and led his team to a provincial title. Bland was also a successful hockey, baseball, and track and field athlete.
