Bolles Dance Hosts Another Guest Artist
First Bolles Dance Company Guest Artist!

The Upper School Dance Program at Bolles has been in existence since 1993. There are five levels, with placement in the upper levels being determined by a faculty evaluation process.  Both male and female students enroll in dance classes, and work to enhance their coordination, strength, flexibility, and have a great time. Course curriculum includes ballet, modern, jazz, tap, musical theatre, African, injury prevention and treatment, kinesiology, dance history, composition, and choreography.

All dancers participate in the dance concert each spring.  A student choreography concert is also held in the spring featuring student, and in particular, senior choreographers. There is a performing group, Bolles Repertory Dance Theatre, with participants admitted by audition only. These dedicated dancers commit to rehearsals two days a week throughout the year. The company has performed at the National High School Dance Festival and numerous regional and community venues.

A major feature of the dance program at Bolles is the regular incorporation of guest artists, much like the approach used at colleges and universities. These visiting artists work with the dance company to set numbers for the spring dance concert. Past guests include Mia Michaels, choreographer for En Vogue and recently one of the judges for the new TV series, "So You Think You Can Dance,"  Matthew Rushing  from the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater, and Steve Rooks and Donlin Foreman of the Martha Graham Dance Company
