The Bolles Experience
Name:
Quinn Barton ’46
College/degree(s):
Princeton University, Bachelor of Arts; University of Florida, Juris Doctor
I teach/title:
I serve as school historian and archivist
My typical day at Bolles
:
At this stage of my life I am here to share with the school my long experience with Bolles as a graduate, a past parent, and a trustee for some thirty years during all the major transitions in its long and distinguished history. I am a lifelong resident of Jacksonville and well acquainted with a wide circle of Jacksonville families, many of whom have traditionally sent their children to Bolles. My own four children are Bolles graduates, all performing successfully out in the real world. As a family we are all extremely proud of our association with the school, spanning a period of 68 years. I have no typical day at Bolles. I do whatever I can do to promote the school.
Bolles offers students:
Bolles offers students the finest opportunity available for college preparation. The quality and range of its programs is unsurpassed. Countless parents are willing to make all kinds of sacrifices to send their children to Bolles, even in these turbulent times.
Name:
Gloria Wood

My typical day at Bolles:
Faculty Technology support throughout the day.
Facilitating Robotics, Web Design, Video Editing and Video Game Programming classes to students. Enjoying interacting with students and faculty!
Bolles offers students:
Opportunities in excellence in academics, athletics, and personal development in a highly challenging and supportive environment.
Name:
Molly
Class year:
2012
Activities:
Varsity soccer and track, Honor Council representative, Co-Founder and President of the Community PedsCare Hospice Club, Co-Chair of Homecoming Committee, President and Co-Founder of World Relief Club, Junior Mentor, member of Sophomore Leadership, member of the Lower School Academic Council
Typical Day at Bolles:
I usually get to school around 7:45 a.m. and go to my locker to change out my books for my first few periods. During zero hour I either go to the library to study or I go talk to a teacher for help on a particular assignment. Once the bell for first period rings at 8:30 a.m., I go to my first period class. Forty-five minutes later I go to second period. After second period, we have a 30 minute break (activities), during which time I go to my locker again and switch out some more books. During activities I normally go to the library and do some homework. After activities, I go to third period and then fourth period. Fifth period is my lunch, so I go to my locker at the beginning of 5th and once again, put the books back that I don't need and get the ones that I do need. After this, I meet my friends in the canteen where we eat lunch. Once I am finished with my lunch, I either go to the library once more to do more work, or I stay and talk to my friends if I got all my work done. After fifth period, I go to sixth and then seventh and eighth. Eighth period ends at 3:45 p.m., which concludes the school day. During soccer and track season, I go straight from eighth period to the locker rooms, and then go to practice. After practice, I go to my locker one last time to get the books needed to complete my homework for that night.
I like Bolles because:
Coming from an international background, I really appreciate the diversity of the student population. However despite this diversity, Bolles has something for everyone and offers an abundance of opportunities for each of its students. For example, all the clubs and activities at Bolles inspire students to participate in lots of different things in order to find what they are truly passionate about. It is because of the numerous opportunities for students to engage themselves in that students are guaranteed to find their own niche in the Bolles community. Another aspect about Bolles that I like is the incredible teaching staff. The faculty at Bolles provides an influential network of support for the students. They are all very eager to help and know exactly how hard to push their students to get the very best out of them. The teachers challenge their students to strive for excellence, and for that I am very grateful.

Bolles prepared me for college and for life
…
by providing me a well-rounded education and experience in academics, athletics, and leadership. In addition, the supporting network of Bolles’ alumni is remarkable.
My Bolles experience today:
Many of my closest friends are classmates from 1987. I also enjoy working with a number of Bolles Alumni both professionally as well as in our community.
Name:
Penny
Class year:
2013
Activities:
Basketball, Chorus, Hearts for The Arts
Describe your typical day at Bolles:
I usually arrive early and hang out with my friends unless I have a test or report. Then I have classes, then activities, and lunch. At lunch I hang out with my boyfriend or with my favorite history teacher, Ms. Fleugel, just before I have her class. Then I finish the rest of my classes, and either head home or go to practice.
I like Bolles because the teachers are friendly and they work hard just to help you succeed. They are easy to talk to and, they help you with your problems to the best of their ability. The campus is beautiful, and the students are nice. It is like a second home.
