The Whitehurst Campus
The campus sits alongside the upper school’s San Jose Campus on 52 acres along the banks of the St. Johns River. The campus features majestic trees and a natural playground. The campus is located at 7400 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32217.
The lower school program at The Bolles School teaches children in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5 the wonder of learning in an intimate and innovative environment. Bolles students develop a sense of exploration and personal values that instill a sense of all that is possible throughout their academic and personal lives as they progress through to middle school on the School’s Bartram Campus, then move on to the Bolles upper school and beyond.
Students receive a firm foundation in reading skills, writing, math, science, and social studies from a dedicated and caring faculty. The curriculum is based on hands-on learning, which emphasizes activities to teach the importance of exploring and experimenting. The School also recently implemented new math and science curriculums in the lower school, providing creative learning concepts in these critical disciplines. A dedicated science lab at the Whitehurst Campus has been recently added, further strengthening the science program.
Parents are offered many opportunities to be involved in students' daily educational experiences. Frequent conferences keep parents informed about their children's academic and social progress. The lower school faculty and administration believe that involved, informed parents are better able to help their children master the accelerated academic curriculum at Bolles.
Each child is encouraged to explore personal limits and abilities as an important part of the process of self-acceptance. The School's character development program instills within each child positive values and self-esteem.
