Dance Teams Earn Awards at 2011 UDA Camp

The Bolles upper and middle school dance teams, both coached by Adriana Stam, earned several awards at the Universal Dance Association’s 2011 summer camp, held July 18-21 in Daytona Beach. Both teams earned All Superior trophies and bids to the UDA National Competition in Orlando.

The All Superior award was given based upon the 78 various evaluations that occurred throughout camp, with participants judged on both execution and performance. The Bolles dancers earned superior ribbons for each and every evaluation.

Both the middle and upper school teams were also awarded the 110% All Time Award, given to the team that exudes the most hard work and dedication throughout camp. While typically awarded to only one team, both Bolles teams were given the honor—the camp staff could not decide between them. As part of the award, the teams were awarded a season’s supply of Gatorade. Stam and varsity assistant Peggy O’Brien were both pleasantly surprised at the distinction being given to both squads.

Individually, dancers were provided the opportunity to try out for All American status. Six girls from each team participated in the process, and all 12 received the award.

Congratulations to the following All Americans from Bolles:

Melinda Abercrombie, Katelyn Evans, Camille Furfine, Diarra Samb, Gracie Skinner, and Lauren Wiele
