The Bolles School Bartram Campus will host a free holiday concert for the community on Saturday, December 7, at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be held in the Parker Auditorium in the Betsy Lovett Arts Center. The First Coast Wind Ensemble and the Don Thompson Chorale will present “Sounds of the Season”, including many holiday favorites. The concert finale will feature both groups in a performance of “The Many Moods of Christmas”. This will be the 15th annual holiday concert by these two well-known community music organizations. Both groups are committed to enriching the cultural life of Jacksonville by offering varied concerts of choral and instrumental music.
Bolles students from every campus embrace the call of service to others, whether in our local community or across the globe. Check this page often as a listing of community service projects and events are continually updated.
The 60-member First Coast Wind Ensemble will be led through holiday selections by conductor emeritus Dr. Dale Blackwell. The ensemble is a member of the Cultural Council of Jacksonville. More information about the group is available at www.fcwe.org.
The 35-voice Don Thompson Chorale is a community chorus that provides many music programs during the year throughout the Jacksonville area. The group will offer a variety of songs to celebrate the holiday season. More information is available at www.donthompsonchorale.org.
The holidays aren’t all about toys, but an important holiday drive on the Bolles Middle School Bartram Campus sure is! This year’s Toys for Tots Toy Drive launches December 9 and runs through December 17. Volunteers will pick up the toys on December 18 and deliver them children in the community who otherwise would not receive a gift during the holidays. As a special incentive to collect as many toys as possible, Bolles will reward participating students a Dress Down Day on Wednesday, December 18. Bring your new and unwrapped toy today and make the holidays bright for others!
