Instructions for Completing and Submitting Application

If submitting an application online, please complete all appropriate questions on the online application. It will take approximately 20 minutes for you to complete and submit the online form. Before you begin you'll need dates of birth, vital statistics, and guardian contact information for all applicants as well as information about their current school. Additionally, you will need to download all appropriate grade level PDF forms and mail by the due dates indicated on the checklist. A photograph of the applicant is also needed.

All application files that are completed by January 10 will be evaluated during the first round of admission consideration.
  • The Admission Committees meet at the beginning of February. Decisions will be mailed by mid-February.
  • Applications received after January 10 will be considered on a space-available basis.

Admission Testing
Lower School
Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten - Students applying for admission to Pre-Kindergarten must be four years old by September 1 and 5 years old by September 1 for Kindergarten. Applicants for those grades will be scheduled to visit Bolles twice - once for an individual developmental assessment and a second time for a group visit. Both of these visits will take place on a weekday in January. Notification of assessment dates will be mailed upon receipt of the application.
Grades 1-5 - Students applying for admission for grades 1-5 will be scheduled for a full-day classroom visit during the month of January. Notification of assessment dates will be mailed upon receipt of the application.

All applicants for grades 6-12 should schedule an interview on campus with a member of the Admission staff. This may be arranged in conjunction with a campus visit, hosted by a student ambassador.

Chinese and Korean Applicants - Candidates from China, Hong Kong, Seoul and Taipei are required to contact Vericant to schedule their interview. Candidates will also submit a writing sample during their visit with Vericant. Vericant does not evaluate candidates but, instead, posts the interviews online for the Bolles Admission Office to review. To learn more about Vericant, please visit the Vericant website.

Overseas candidates are cautioned that The Bolles School does not use organizations to represents the school outside the continental United States. While The Bolles School works with a number of reputable consulting agencies who refer candidates to the admission office, no agency can guarantee that their candidate will be admitted to our School. No agency has permission to use The Bolles School images or information for the purpose of marketing that agency without The Bolles School's permission.

The Bolles School does have an affiliation with Vericant, which conducts a pre-interview screening process for the School in China and Korea, but Vericant does not represent candidates and does not claim to offer an advantage to the candidate during the application process.

Application fees

All Day School and Domestic Boarding applicants pay a non-refundable application fee of $45 when payment is made by check or in cash. If the application fee is paid by credit card (required for applications submitted online), the fee is $50.
All International Boarding School applicants pay a non-refundable application fee of $75 when payment is made by check or in cash. If the application fee is paid by credit card (required for applications submitted online), the fee is $80. These fees offset additional administrative costs.

Payment Information and Instructions
The School utilizes FACTS Management Company for processing account transactions. After enrollment is accepted by the School, you will receive an e-mail to register online with FACTS and you will be able to choose your method of billing and payment from the options shown. Please note all tuition must be paid by November 30 regardless of enrollment date. Instructions regarding registering on the FACTS website are available here.

Testing fees
Lower School - a $55 testing fee is required with all Lower School applications received by January 10. For applications received after that date, a testing fee will be charged only if the applicant is evaluated.

Middle, Upper and Boarding Applicants - As part of the Admission process, your child is required to take the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE) or the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT). To register online, go to for the ISEE or for the SSAT. To register by phone, call (800) 446-0320 for the ISEE or (609) 683-4440 for the SSAT.

Once the admission application has been received, financial aid information will be sent to the applicant's family.
