Tree Removal on the San Jose Campus

While the trees on the San Jose Campus provide a beautiful setting, many have become dangerous due to age and disease and must be removed for the safety of our students. During the week of July 28, 2008, a mixture of water oaks, live oaks, and other assorted trees will be removed. This decision was reached after a campus study was completed by an arborist with England, Thims, and Miller, Inc. Following the study, a plan was submitted to the City of Jacksonville who conducted a site review and issued a permit for the removal of the trees. The two areas of focus are the student parking lot off of San Jose in front of the practice field and the River Campus. With other campus construction about to begin, we wanted to communicate what necessitated the need for these trees to be removed. Their deteriorating health was a hazard for students, parents, faculty, and guests of the School.

On another note, new sabal palms are being planted along the entrance drive as you pass the welcome station and will create a new and improved look as you enter the School. Thank you for your support as we continue to work to ensure campus safety and the beautification of our school.
