Bolles Middle School Dance Team Earns Top Honors

The Bolles middle school dance team claimed top honors at the National Dance Alliance’s National Dance Championship, held Saturday-Sunday, March 1-2, at the Hard Rock Live at Universal Studios in Orlando.  Bolles earned first place in the middle school jazz category, claimed Best Choreography in the jazz category, and placed second in the middle school Hip-Hop category.

The Bolles team qualified for the event by submitting a video of their routines in December.  At the competition, teams were judged by a panel of highly experienced dance professionals in the areas of technical ability, choreography, visual effect, synchronization, performance impression, and degree of difficulty.  The event included two preliminary rounds of competition held Saturday and finals on Sunday.

Guided by coach and choreographer Adriana Stam, also a middle school Spanish teacher at Bolles, the middle school dance team was formed in the 2006-07 school year.  The group performs at middle school basketball games and other school-related events.  The team also recently performed at the Duval County Special Olympics, held February 23 on the Bolles San Jose Campus.
