Language Honor Societies Induction Ceremony
On the evening of April 23, the Language Honor Societies held their respective induction ceremonies in McGehee Auditorium. The students honored have distinguished themselves in the study of their chosen language or, in some cases, languages. Of the more than 700 students taking languages at Bolles, 78 students were inducted in six different ceremonies.
Following the ceremony, students did recitations in their languages and offered presentations for the audience. The Chinese inductees presented A Silent Night by Li Bai. Gabi Fares recited Pour faire le portrait d'un oiseau by Jacques Prévert. Eric Eriksen presented his declamation Erlkönig by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, a performance for which he earned second in the state at the State German Competition last weekend. Michael Mikulic appeared in costume for his recitation of La canción del pirata by José de Espronceda, and the evening's performances closed with impromptus presented by the Japanese inductees.
