Girls’ Golf Wins District, Boys also Advance to Regional

The Bolles girls' and boys' golf teams both advanced to the regional tournament with impressive results at the district tournament. The girls' squad, playing October 16 at Cecil Field Golf Club, won their second consecutive district title and 10th overall in program history. The boys, playing October 15 at Windsor Parke Golf Course, placed third to move on to the regional tournament.

Junior Amelia Lewis led the girls, posting a career-low 66 and claiming the individual title. Lewis recorded seven birdies and just one bogey on the day. With a team score of 336, the Bolles girls were 41 shots ahead of second place Episcopal. Junior Ellie Doyle (89), seventh grader Mia Zanghetti (90), junior Colleen Murphy (91), and junior Andra Reigler (96) completed the squad at the district tournament.

Sophomore August Jonas led the boys, posting a 73 and also winning the individual title. On the back nine, Jonas shot two under par and junior Drake Varn (77) shot even par to lead the Bulldogs' effort. Eighth graders A.J. Crouch (79) and Blake Wilson (86) and senior Rob Davis (90) rounded out the Bolles boys team at the district tournament.

The boys tied the second place team from Bishop Kenny with a total score of 315, but were bested by the Crusaders on the second hole of a play-off. Both squads were just one stroke off of champion Providence.

The girls play the regional tournament on Monday, October 22, at Fernandina Beach Golf Club. The boys play Tuesday, October 23, at Royal Amelia Golf Club.
