Fifth Grade Students Help Make a Dream Come True

Whitehurst Dreams Come True Party

Fifth grade students on the lower school Whitehurst Campus recently raised over $4,100 for a four-year-old girl named Madison through the Dreams Come True organization. Madison and her family will be taking a Disney Cruise in June.

Dreams Come True not only helps fulfill special desires of children battling life-threatening illnesses in Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia, but helps students understand the true meaning of giving. The Whitehurst Campus fifth grade was the first child organization in Jacksonville to help Dreams Come True with their Children Helping Children focus.

The students' efforts to collect the funds included babysitting, raffling a Hog Hunt at a ranch, selling homemade items, holding pancake sales, washing cars, and turning in their allowance money. One group of students even had a birthday party and asked that money be donated to Dreams Come True instead of giving them gifts. The students welcomed Madison and her family to the Whitehurst Campus on April 7 for a party. Parents of the students contributed fruit, bagels, drinks, and a cake for the celebration.
