Davis Named Baseball Head Coach at Bolles

Storm Davis has been named Head Coach of the varsity baseball team at The Bolles School. Former head coach Mike Boswell will remain on the coaching staff as an assistant and continue to run the Bolles summer baseball camp. Boswell made the decision to step down as Head Coach to further dedicate his attention to his critical role as the School’s Director of Boys’ Residential Life.
“The decision to step down was entirely Mike’s,” Associate Head of School/Student Life Jack Milne said. “We have been very pleased with his performance as head coach. We were totally supportive of his decision, whether to remain as head coach or step down to focus on his primary role as head of the boys’ residence program.”
Davis moves into the role of head coach after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant on the Bolles baseball staff. Davis served a prior stint as head baseball coach at Bolles from 1997-2001, after serving as an assistant baseball coach at the School from 1995-96 and an assistant football coach. He has also served as head baseball coach and an assistant football coach at Trinity Christian and served as an assistant football and baseball coach at Bartram Trail High School.
Davis’ baseball resume includes 13 years in the major leagues as a pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles (1982-86 and 1992), San Diego Padres (1987), Oakland Athletics (1987-89 and 1993), Kansas City Royals (1990-91), and Detroit Tigers (1993-94).
He was a member of two World Series Championship teams, in 1983 with the Orioles and 1989 with the Athletics. He also played in the 1988 World Series as a member of the Athletics.
“Storm’s recent position as an assistant coach on the Bolles’ staff and his experience as a head coach at Bolles and other schools should allow for a smooth transition,” Milne said. “We look forward to the continued success of our baseball program and expect Storm and Mike to both maintain key roles in that process.”
A Jacksonville native, Davis is a graduate of University Christian School. He and his wife, Angie, have five children: daughters Erin and Stephanie and sons Zach, Caleb, and Justin.
