Cathy Soud Named National Teacher of the Year by AATSP
Bolles upper school Spanish teacher Cathy Soud has received the 2009 Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award in the secondary level category from the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.

Eligibility for the award includes membership in the national AATSP for at least five consecutive years and evidence of teaching Spanish or Portuguese for at least five consecutive years at any level of instruction. Candidates are also required to submit a current curriculum vitae, letters of recommendation from administrators and/or colleagues, and a personal statement including demonstration of professional excellence, teaching philosophy, and involvement in related activities and professional organizations.
Soud will be recognized at an awards luncheon on Saturday, July 11, during the 2009 AATSP conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She will be presented a certificate at the luncheon and a commemorative plaque will be sent to her following the conference.
