Bolles Golf Classic Benefits Endowment
The inaugural Bolles Golf Classic was held Monday, April 7, at San Jose Country Club to honor Bolles' 75 years of excellence and benefit the School's endowment. The event was a great success, producing outstanding golf scores and contributing needed funds for the future growth and advancement of the School. Generating over $103,000 from entry fess, donations, and sponsorship, the net proceeds from the event will be contributed to The Bolles School endowment.
The event's success was due in large part to the hard work of Co-Chairs Mike DeSanto, Richard Dostie '72, and Ed Nimnicht '62 working with Ralph Daniel who helped plan and coordinate the logistics.
A total of 31 groups teed off Monday morning, including Bolles alumni, parents, board members, friends, and event sponsors. Playing a Captain's Choice format, the foursome of Tommy Zaccour '90, Roberto Garcia '90, Jason Barrios, and Torsak Vimoktayon recorded the best net score of 53.5. The foursomes of Chris Hodge '85, Matt McAfee '85, Wes Bernhardt '86, and Doug Bevan and Bob Dickson, Kevin Slayden, Roger Nichols, and Ron Hastings tied for the top gross score of 58.

#4 Longest Putt on Green- B.C. Parker

#7 Straightest Drive- James Bowery
#8 Closest to Hole- Jay Moore
#9 Longest Putt on Green- Rob Schiller
#10 Closest to Hole in Two Strokes- Charlie Arnold '86
#11 Age 60 and Up Longest Drive in Fairway- Ron Hastings
#12 Closest to Hole- Tom Patrick
#13 Closest to Hole in Two Strokes- Ron Hastings
#14 Longest Putt on Green- Jim Stephens
#15 Closest to Hole- James Bowery
#16 Closest to Hole in Two Strokes- Charlie Arnold '86
#17 Longest Drive in Fairway- Andy Carroll
#18 Longest Putt on Green- C.H. Swan '85
As the groups finished their rounds, the golfers gathered for an awards luncheon. The golf awards were presented, along with door prizes. President and Head of School John E. Trainer, Jr., Ph.D. spoke to the group, expressing gratitude on behalf of the entire School. Special recognition was also given to the many people whose hard work helped make the tournament a success. In addition to DeSanto, Dostie, Nimnicht, and Daniels, the event came together through the efforts of Bob Wenzel, Holly Peery '82, Jan Olson, Pat Stich, and the rest of the Bolles Advancement Office staff. Members of the Bolles girls' and boys' golf teams also assisted with the tournament.
