Benedict Picks Georgia, Garners National Attention
Bolles student-athlete Brent Benedict '10 has verbally committed to the University of Georgia to continue his academic and football career. Verbal commitments are non-binding and Benedict's decision will become official in early February 2010 on National Signing Day when he signs a National Letter of Intent. However, Benedict has stated in several media and internet outlets that his decision is firm and he looks forward to joining the UGA football team.
Each year, numerous Bolles senior student-athletes sign athletic scholarships. In Benedict's case, he has attracted the attention of several major college football programs from across the country and his recruitment has been a hot topic among various media and internet sites.
Benedict is one of the highest rated players in the nation at his position as ranked by various recruiting sources. Rivals.com ranks Benedict 40th in its overall football recruit rankings and the fifth-best offensive tackle in the nation. Scout.com ranks him ninth in its offensive tackle rankings. Benedict ranks as the 40th overall prospect in Tom Lemming's football recruiting rankings, published on MaxPreps.com. He is also listed on the ESPNU 150 watch list.
