Southern Sprints Indoor Championships
Bolles takes 2nd at Southern Sprints Indoor Championships
25 high school and club teams participated in the 26th Annual Southern Sprints Indoor Championship Regatta on February 8, and Bolles finished in second place behind Lake Brantley and one point in front of 3rd place finishers Plant High amongst the high schools. Both are big programs from the Orlando area.
Al Muzourieta set the tone early with a first place finish in the Boy’s Age 13 category. Later in the day, sophomore Conor White finished in 4th in the Men’s Lightweight 2000 meter race. He was one of 133 entries in that event, and was less than 2 seconds out of 1st place. Melissa Chavez also rowed well in the Women’s 2000 Meters, finishing 8th, and also finished 4th earlier in the day in the Women’s 500 Meter Dash.
Bolles finished strong in the relay events. The women’s lightweight team of Sarah Dibble, Emily Vandroff, Alyssa Lang and Annie Ungrady finished in second place behind Capital City Rowing Club in a very exciting race. Our team of Melissa Chavez, Anne-Marie Clegg, Jennifer Margettes and Taylor Hughes in the women’s relay held their own with a 4th place finish. Both women’s teams were the first high school teams to cross the finish line. In the Men’s Lightweight Relay, the “A” team of Dylan Gall, Griffin McCutcheon, Bryan Smith and Conor White finished 6th, 2nd amongst the high school entries behind Lake Brantley.
