Girls Basketball vs Episcopal

Eagles don't soar at night -- especially in the second half. Bolles went on a second half rampage and defeated Episcopal 59-31 in the opening round of the District 4-3A tournament at Baldwin.

The Bulldogs play the winner of the Baldwin-Yulee game Friday night.

Bolles held a meager 11-9 first quarter lead and led by an uncomfortable 26-20 at halftime.

"We struggled in the first half with foul trouble and not playing our game," said third-year coach Kelly Stevenson. "In the second half we took over. Hannah Riley and Tori Reiman really stepped up inside and handled the boards for us. Also, Amanda Zakoske had a great game offensively."

Zakoske, Bolles' lone senior, made sure it wasn't going to be her last high school game with 18 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and four steals. Episcopal didn't get many second shot opportunties due to Riley’s nine rebounds and Reiman’s five rebounds. Reiman had 12 points to go along with her five rebounds.

Freshman point guard Ali Walker added eight points, four rebounds, three steals and an assist while junior guard Hannah Conte had eight points, seven rebounds, six assists, four steals and a block. Freshman Isa Griffay who has come on strong late in the season contributed four rebounds, three points and two steals. Katie Gonino had four rebounds, three points along with a steal and assist.
