CISV Leadership Opportunity
Currently recruiting for International Summer Camp
Location: San Francisco
Dates: June 18-July 10
Cost: $2,500
CISV is a unique, non-profit organization that brings together children and young people from all over the world to foster international understanding in the hope of building peace for the future.
CISV Jacksonville has openings in their delegation to a summer camp in San Francisco for children who will be fourteen between June 1, 1996 and August 31, 2010. A CISV Summer Camp is a three week international camp attended by Delegations from 9 different countries. Each Delegation is made up of 4 children (2boys and 2 girls) from the same area along with their trained Delegation Leader (an adult), also from the same area. This year the leader of the Jacksonville delegation will be Adrienne Divertie, an international law student at University of Richmond who has extensive CISV and leadership experience.
The CISV summer camp program provides intensive leadership training and experience. The youth delegates are responsible for planning and leading all camp activities including the day-to-day running of the camp after an initial orientation and ongoing guidance by the leaders and staff. Activities are designed around a predetermined educational theme (recent examples: stereotypes, ecology, or competition). During the time between selection and the start of the Summer Camp, the delegation will prepare for the experience ahead. There will be a leadership training process in which delegates will explore personal attitudes and values, cultural awareness, communication skills, leadership skills, and group dynamics.
