Boys’ Dorm Dodge Ball Tournament

One thing is certain to ignite a passion in all of our returning boarders next year: The prospect of dethroning the Bolles boys' dormitory's reigning dodge ball champions. The team of Cam Hampson, David Ripple, Greg Gozzo, Jawan Jamison, and Tyler Potts took the year-end dodge ball championship on Sunday, May 17, in fine style, beating out the dorm dad team of Rick Crowley, Christian Bahr, Ted Riedeburg, Charles Williams, and John Curran.

Nearly all of our boarders joined up with a five-man team for the big tournament, which featured two round robins and five championship series games. The competition in the Davis gym was intense as few things hold more value in the dorm than a day of bragging rights.

With volleyballs (our make-due dodge balls) flying, sweat pouring, feet shifting, heads ducking, and skin stinging from direct strikes, it was controlled mayhem at its best as team after team fought for a chance to make it to the final game. There were no injuries except, perhaps, a few bruised egos for the dorm dads who couldn't win a single game in the championship best-of-three-game series. The competition was so successful that the boys requested it become a quarterly event, in which case expect the dorm dads to be training all summer for their glorious return to the championship series in the fall!
