Bolles Defeats Yulee 63-3; JV Also Undefeated

Bolles Coach Corky Rogers used 10 different running backs Friday night, none getting more than six carries, to rack up 414 total yards rushing as the Bulldogs defeated the Yulee Hornets 63-3 to win their fourth game of the 2008 season. It was also their second district win, which is important in the state playoff system.

The Bulldogs had nine possessions and scored nine touchdowns with Stephen Barnett (5-75 yards, 3 touchdowns) and Jawan Jamison (6-102 yards, 1 touchdown) leading the way. In total, five different Bolles players scored touchdowns and extra points were added by both Franklin Varn and Robert Cook.

Davis Skinner had a six yard touchdown run and Chandler Carr added two touchdown passes, one to Mason Johnston of 27 yards and the other to Jay Herndon for 30 yards. D. J. Stewart had a one yard touchdown run and Jordan Garside finished the scoring with a 48-yard run.

The Bulldog defense limited the Hornets to 63 yards rushing and 50 yards passing, putting in another stellar performance. Brad Terry, Josh Hood, Matt Barnes, Harrison McLarty, and Cade Warren led this charge.

Coach Kevin Fagan’s junior varsity Bulldogs also remained undefeated as they won their game Thursday night against the St. Augustine Yellow Jackets by the score of 33-12. It was the Yellow Jacket’s first loss. The JV squad will travel to Fernandina Beach on Wednesday, October 8, to take on the Pirates.

On Thursday night, October 9, the Jacksonville University Dolphins will play their 2008 Homecoming Game at Skinner-Barco Stadium. Webber International from the Miami area will be the opponent.

Next up for the Bolles varsity football team is a district road game in Starke against Bradford County on Friday, October 10, at 7:30 p.m.
