BOLLES BULLDOGS 42 MIAMI ARCHBISHOP CARROLL 32

The Bolles Bulldogs opened their 2008 season at Skinner-Barco Stadium Friday night with a 10 point win over the Bulldogs of Miami Carroll. It was not an easy win this year, as the Carroll Bulldogs brought a senior laden team to Jacksonville, while Corkey Rogers finds himself in a rebuilding year with our Dogs. Graduation took five of six starting offensive linemen from the Dogs, and nine of eleven defensive starters

The Bulldogs opened the scoring with a fumble kickoff recovery on the Miami 41 yard line. In four plays Stephen Barnett found the end zone from 40 yards out on a run up the middle. Brim’s extra point made it 7-0.

This lead was short lived as Jeff Scott returned the ensuing kickoff 97 yards and the kick tied the game at 7-7 with less than two minutes gone.
Miami took the lead 13-7 on their next possession, before Jawan Jamison electrified the home crown with a 67 yard run which gave us our second tie as the extra point kick was wide.

The dogs found themselves on the short end of a 20-13 score in the second quarter¸before erupting for 16 points to take a 29-20 lead into the locker room at halftime. Junior Jordan Garside’s 4 year run, a safety on a fumble into the end zone by Carroll, and Barnett’s second score of the evening led the way.

Quarterback Davis Skinner got the Dogs on the board in quarter three with a 4 yard scoring run on a bootleg and Franklin Varn’s kick gave Bolles a 16 point lead. Varn came on to replace the injured Brim as the new kicker. Miami scored again on a 27 yard run by Jeff Scott, but Quarterback Chandler Carr answered that with a 50 yard score on the bootleg to put the game out of reach.

For the night Stephen Barnett had 117 yards rushing on 14 carries while Jawan Jamison was 122 yards on 17 tries. Both Skinner and Carr rushed for 50 yards as the Dogs racked up 417 yards on the ground.
